giganticFISH is a science outreach & education platform offering lab projects, primers, and protocols in phylogenomics. It enables students to explore biodiversity at molecular to organismal and genome scales – leveraging scientific methods and research tools to analyze sequence data sets – following primers, practicals, and protocols – all online.

Students provide simple answers – Whales are fish.
Students test their statements as hypotheses – using phylogenetic methods – at genome-scale – working with state-of-the-art computational tools – and a supercomputer.
Their work produces gene or species phylogenetic trees.
Students explore their trees to arrive at a conclusion.
